Did You Follow Your Mentor’s Instructions?

I love to write about things that I experience or see others experience on their journey in this real estate investing space. I noticed a post on a page in one of my Facebook groups where a gentleman was asking others about raising capital. The gentleman was asking others to potentially partner with him on a note he was trying to buy.

Another poster chimed in and asked him what he was trying to accomplish and said, “I wouldn’t just be asking random folks on the internet to partner with me”. The initial poster said, he was trying to raise capital, and this was his last resort. A person that responded mentioned that there was a reputable mentor who offers a program and mentors students to raise capital.

Now this was the thing, the initiator says, “Well I’ve actually taken XXXXXX’s training and mentor program, but I just haven’t done what he told me to do”. What? So, you’ve spent thousands of dollars on a mentor and didn’t do what they told you to do? I couldn’t understand or wrap my head around why someone would go through spending all that time and money and not act when they have basically been given the blueprint!

Now, you all know I’m a huge proponent of educating one’s self when embarking on any endeavor. I too have spent thousands of dollars on training and mentors to get where I need to be in this business. I didn’t act at first when I went through my first trainings and mentorships because I was waiting on my home to be sold to use the proceeds. Many said, even that wasn’t an excuse to not act…

So, in order to not sit idle while waiting on my home sale, I decided to take on a mentor to raise capital the right way. I went through doing everything my mentor said and essentially had to rebrand my entire business. I don’t regret it and it will allow me to scale my business exponentially! Bottom line follow your mentor’s instructions, they have been there and done it already. That’s why they are the mentor!
